THORENS TD1600 TP160

The TD 1600, enhanced with the new TP 160 tonearm, represents a consistent evolution of the TD 1600 model. This turntable stands out for its classic wooden plinth and dual-part machined aluminum platter, featuring an internal belt drive system. The external TPN 1600 linear power supply, equipped with a high-performance toroidal transformer, delivers 2x 16V to the synchronous motor, ensuring maximum rotational stability of the platter.

The TP 160 tonearm, developed by renowned designer Helmut Thiele, features an ultra-precise knife-edge bearing. This 9" J-shaped tonearm with SME headshell connection is inspired by the famous studio tonearms. The horizontal bearing blade is further stabilized by magnets to ensure maximum precision in vinyl tracking.

The three sub-chassis springs rest on the bottom rather than hanging from the top. A tensioned steel wire, extending from the motor pulley axis to the turntable axis, prevents lateral tilt, ensuring movement as close to a piston as possible.

Balanced (XLR) outputs provide a professional connection. Since the phono signal requires significant amplification, it is particularly susceptible to electrical interference. Balanced connection via XLR jacks ensures minimal interference between the turntable and the phono preamplifier. To utilize True Balanced connection, the turntable must be equipped with a moving coil (MC) cartridge.
