The Audiolab 6000A Play represents the latest evolution of the renowned 6000 series, combining the 6000A integrated amplifier and the 6000N Play wireless streaming player into a single unit. This model retains the acclaimed analog and digital circuitry of the 6000A, while adapting to modern streaming needs and ensuring near-universal compatibility with various music sources.

At the core of its streaming capabilities is the DTS Play-Fi platform, which allows high-resolution audio playback up to 24-bit/96kHz with services like TIDAL and Qobuz. The 6000A Play can access music from any network-connected device, including smartphones, tablets, PCs, and NAS devices, while offering a wide selection of services such as Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Music, Napster, and more. Additionally, an integrated internet radio tuner provides access to thousands of stations and podcasts. Thanks to DLNA compatibility, users can also stream music from home media servers. The DTS Play-Fi technology ensures seamless playback with gapless audio and direct transfer mode, eliminating pauses between tracks and preventing interruptions from phone calls or notifications.

The Audiolab 6000A Play maintains the refined circuit design of the 6000A, developed by Jan Ertner, who perfected his expertise from the 8300A model. The integrated DAC is an ES9018 Sabre32, featuring 32-bit HyperStream architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator for ultra-low jitter performance. The unit includes four digital inputs – two coaxial and two optical – supporting signals up to 24-bit/192kHz, with user-selectable filters (Fast Roll-Off, Slow Roll-Off, and Minimum Phase). Wireless connectivity is further enhanced with aptX Bluetooth for high-quality streaming.

The amplification section operates in Class AB, delivering 50W per channel into 8 ohms. The output stage uses complementary feedback (CFB) topology and a 200VA toroidal transformer, supported by four 15,000µF capacitors, for a total of 60,000µF, ensuring stability and dynamic performance. The unit can function as an integrated amplifier, preamplifier, or power amplifier. It also includes a phono stage for MM cartridges, featuring a JFET-based circuit with RIAA equalization, as well as a dedicated headphone amplifier with current feedback topology.

The 6000A Play delivers a balanced and engaging sound. High frequencies are detailed yet never fatiguing, the midrange is rich with texture, offering well-defined vocals and lifelike guitar nuances, while the bass is fast, controlled, and well-articulated rather than overwhelming. While 50W of power may not provide the depth of higher-output models, the attack remains crisp and impactful.
