The Thorens TD 184, launched in 1958, became an immediate commercial success thanks to its unique design and extremely easy operation. Its innovative "telephone dial" format selector (7", 10", and 12") and the automatic shut-off function at the end of the record made this model a true benchmark in the industry.

The drive system was directly derived from the famous TD 124, featuring the E 50 motor, stepped pulley, and a combined belt and rim drive system. However, the platter was smaller (25 cm in diameter), while the aluminum BL 104 tonearm was integrated into the chassis. The chassis itself, made of sheet metal, differed from the more expensive models, which used a massive cast iron chassis.

The TD 184 is a fully automatic 4-speed turntable with a convenient pitch control for speed adjustment. It also comes with a new protective cover for maximum protection and ease of use.
