The CounterPoint SA-2000 preamplifier, launched in 1989, represents a refined example of hybrid technology, with a design that combines the best of tube and solid-state technologies.

At the heart of the SA-2000 is a single 6DJ8 tube stage, providing a warm and detailed sound, followed by a solid-state video buffer that improves dynamic response and signal stability. This hybrid approach allows for an ideal combination of the natural, "warm touch" typical of tubes and the precision and efficiency of solid-state technologies. The preamplifier is designed without loop feedback, a detail that helps maintain the purity of the signal.

The SA-2000 comes with a variety of features that make it highly versatile. It offers six line-level inputs, two tape inputs, as well as two main outputs and dual tape outputs, allowing flexible connections with different audio sources. Among the available controls are: input selector, tape monitor, mono/stereo switch, balance, volume, mute function, and power on/off control, providing complete and precise control over the various settings.

The power supply is equally advanced: a solid-state voltage regulator, powered by a tube rectifier, ensures a stable and clean energy supply, contributing to the superior sound quality of the device.
