Uesugi is a renowned Japanese brand, particularly known among extreme audio enthusiasts. After a long period of silence, the brand has made a comeback by reintroducing one of its flagship products: the MC cartridge step-up transformer, Bros-5. This transformer is considered one of the best in the world.

The Bros-5L stands out for its exceptional gain, the highest among available step-up transformers, making it ideal for low-output MC cartridges. Thanks to this feature, it enhances even the most difficult cartridges, dramatically improving detail and sound dynamics. For these qualities, the Bros-5L is perfect for pairing with prestigious brands such as Audio Tekne, Fidelity Research, and Immutable Music.

To ensure optimal performance, the Bros-5L design features a completely independent structure for the left and right channels, preventing degradation of signal separation characteristics. Both the signal and ground systems are designed to be separate for each channel, ensuring the highest sound quality. The chassis ground of the main unit is connected to the amplifier control ground.

The step-up features a specially designed transformer, developed through collaboration between Uesugi R&D Laboratories and Tamura Manufacturing Co., Ltd. The transformer core material is a special ultra-thin permalloy alloy, providing superior sound characteristics. Additionally, the transformer design is optimized to reduce its inherent coloration, extending the high-frequency peak beyond 100 kHz.

To counteract induction hum, the chassis is made of high-quality iron, and the transformer is protected by a multi-layer shield structure, suspended inside a large copper-plated iron case. The company has also integrated its unique know-how in signal line routing, reducing magnetic distortion caused by iron materials.
