Trumpeter Paolo Fresu produces yet another jewel in his discography involving Malika Ayane, Tosca and Elisa. It is useless to talk about the majesty of Paolo Fresu, as it has been known since time immemorial; but we will never tire of being amazed by his immense desire to experiment and seek new challenges. Well yes, the trumpeter from Berchidda did it again this time, creating Tango macondo, the new Tuk Music album released on 22 October 2021.

It is a truly wide-ranging composition, conceived to accompany the theater show of the same name directed by Giorgio Gallone with a fascinating ensemble of great impact from a purely timbral point of view, including trumpet, flugelhorn, piano, effects (Fresu ), bandoneon and live electronics (Daniele di Bonaventura), diatonic accordion and electronics (Pierpaolo Vacca).

A mix of sounds, influences, stories, life intertwine over the course of the fifty minutes of music, in which Renaissance references, textures close to tradition, fragments of great jazz converge, with three simply overwhelming incursions signed by Malika Ayane (" Alguien says them at the Tango"), Tosca ("El día que me quieras") and Elisa ("Volver"), yet another demonstration of a type of flexibility that is certainly not new in these parts.
