Both in her private and public life, Nina Simone was categorical and not very tolerant. Many times his audience was the target of his verbal utterances. Sometimes he was able to cancel a concert without the slightest notice and often made violent speeches against show business. In her gospel-rooted music, she sought a path that took her somewhere between jazz and pop, earning her the title of High Priestess Of Soul. This album was recorded during the most productive phase of his career. It's an album that doesn't try to exploit the fashion of the time and that doesn't need a large team of artists, just Simone's beautiful voice, the gentle timbre of an organ and a pulsating rhythm section. A great album to celebrate the artist's 70th birthday which fell in February and his premature death which took place a few weeks ago.
