As with all Audio Note™ speakers, no compromises have been made in terms of component and driver quality. The woofer is the 5-inch Vifa model with a paper cone, paired with an improved version of the 3/4" tweeter from the AN-K, all completed by a robust crossover with air-core inductors, silver-plated speaker terminals, and Audio Note AN-D internal wiring.

The design features common to all Absolute Zero series models include:

• Quasi-parabolic folded horn system with rear-facing mouth.

• High efficiency and optimal dynamic power transfer behavior to maximize acoustic output relative to power input.

In the pursuit of creating a compact, high-sensitivity speaker with good environmental interface, the company revisited and re-evaluated all the main principles of horn-loaded designs. This, combined with their expertise in system dispersion and associated crossover design, led to a speaker system that not only redefines the quality-to-price ratio but also delivers a unique emotional experience in reproduced acoustic performances.

The Zero AZ series speakers, like more conventional ported designs, are intended to be placed very close and at an angle to a rear wall, or preferably with the horn mouth firing asymmetrically into a corner near the side walls. This positioning choice was made because, as a horn design, it improves bass response and reduces the low-frequency cut-off, as already explained. It is essential to understand that the proximity of the AZ-One to the rear wall or corner is key to achieving the best sound performance. If bass issues occur, try moving the speaker closer to the wall or experiment with the speaker's angle.

The best performance is achieved by positioning the speaker in a corner. When placed in a corner, the AZ-One should be angled so that the on-axis line of the drivers crosses about 1-2 meters in front of you, with the rear corner of each speaker almost touching the side wall.

If only a rear wall is available, a "boom-free" bass response can still be achieved. Experimenting with the angle and distance from the wall is necessary to achieve a good result. The inside rear corner of the speaker can be very close to the wall, even as little as 5 centimeters, while the speakers should be placed as far apart as the room allows.
