The Pioneer HPM-700 is a 4-way Bass-Reflex speaker system with 4 high-fidelity drivers, designed by Bart Locanthi and his team of former JBL engineers, produced in Japan for Pioneer Electronic Corporation from 1980 to 1982. HPM stands for "High Polymer Molecular," referring to its newly designed high polymer molecular film supertweeter, a design used to convert electrical energy into sound at a level that was previously just theory. It is damped with elastic materials to prevent the degradation of its best characteristics and eliminates excessive harmonic distortion.
