The KEF XQ10 is the most compact speaker in the new XQ series, designed to deliver excellent performance both in stereo listening and in multi-channel and home theater configurations. Its main innovation lies in the use of Uni-Q technology, which integrates the tweeter into the midrange driver, creating a single acoustic source. This approach simplifies crossover integration, improving sound coherence and ensuring better off-axis symmetry, creating a wider "sweet spot" for listening.

The design of the KEF XQ10 is two-way, based on a next-generation 130mm Uni-Q driver, loaded by a front port and an estimated seven-liter volume cabinet. The tweeter is positioned at the center of the midrange cone, allowing for very simple acoustic integration and greater frequency coherence, but its slightly recessed position can limit sound dispersion.

Recent developments of the Uni-Q driver include a ventilated pole-piece, an elliptical tweeter profile, a cone designed to avoid interference between the tweeter's direct soundwave and its reflections from the cone, and a "tangerine waveguide," with eight vanes that help the tweeter's titanium diaphragm mimic a pulsating spherical motion. Weighing 6.4kg, the XQ10 feels solid and robust, with curved surfaces on the top, bottom, and sides that increase rigidity and minimize internal standing waves.

The KEF XQ10 delivers a rich and detailed sound reproduction. Despite its compact size, it offers good coherence between midrange and treble frequencies, without unwanted phase shifts when moving off-center from the listening point. The voice range is particularly open, and the sound coloration is virtually nonexistent, thanks to the cabinet design and its curves, which minimize unwanted noise.
