The ribbon driver of the Celestion 3000 is notable for its lack of passband resonances, minimal distortion, and excellent heat dissipation capability. These advantages, combined with meticulous construction, result in a sound free from distortions and artifacts.

To eliminate the rear radiation from the ribbon driver and ensure optimal sound, the Celestion 3000 uses an internal transmission line that absorbs sound waves coming from the back of the ribbon. This design reduces internal reflections to a minimum, ensuring that the sound emitted is purely from the front of the driver.

The 8" woofer of the 3000 is a conventional unit with a flared polyolefin cone and a synthetic rubber surround, mounted on a cast alloy frame. The three-way crossover, based on a printed circuit board, includes a low-pass filter for the woofer and a separate high-pass filter for the tweeter, with a design that uses non-polarized electrolytic capacitors and air-core coils.

The speaker enclosure is constructed from ¾" MDF and features internal bracing that increases rigidity and reduces unwanted vibrations.
