With the new TD 124 DD, Thorens is reviving one of the most legendary turntables in its history. The original concept of the TD 124 has been extensively improved, utilizing modern technologies, and now offers unparalleled playback quality.

The original TD 124 was introduced in 1957 and used for decades in countless broadcast studios around the world. Ambitious music lovers quickly discovered its extreme precision, and a loyal following has remained attached to the TD 124 to this day. Thorens now continues this tradition with the TD 124 DD, developed completely from the ground up, and enhances it with innovative technologies. The purist design and basic structure are inspired by the original, but the new height-adjustable aluminum chassis now rests on vibration-damping rubber elements. Instead of the traditional friction wheel and belt motor, the new TD 124 DD adopts a "High Precision" Direct Drive system. This motor provides powerful torque, allows precise speed control, and effectively isolates unwanted vibrations from the platter.

The tonearm has also been updated: the TP 124 can be precisely adjusted in all parameters based on the cartridge chosen. It features an innovative anti-skating solution with a ruby bearing and a patented electric tonearm lift for delicate placement of the stylus. In addition to the adjustment options, the closed headshell offers great flexibility when selecting a cartridge. The TD 124 DD also comes with a slightly heavier counterweight, ideal for the Thorens SPU TD 124, available separately. This is an upgrade of the legendary Ortofon SPU, created in collaboration with Ortofon for vinyl enthusiasts seeking excellence.

Thorens has paid attention to every detail in the development of the TD 124 DD to ensure it meets the highest sound performance expectations. A high-quality external power supply ensures interference-free power delivery. In addition to the unbalanced outputs, there are also balanced XLR connectors, guaranteeing optimal signal transmission and, therefore, the best possible sound when the TD 124 DD is connected to a high-end system with an appropriate phono preamplifier.
