One of its standout features is the heavy gunmetal platter, an alloy of copper and tin historically used during the golden age of analog audio. Unlike most gunmetal platters, which are often hollow inside, the Air Force III Premium’s platter is solid, precision-cast, and surface-polished. Weighing 29 kg—over three times heavier than the 9 kg aluminum platter of the original model—it brings the total weight of the main unit to over 50 kg.

This increase in mass translates into greater detail, an extended frequency range, and enhanced dynamics, while significantly lowering the noise floor, thanks to TechDAS's air-bearing technology. Gunmetal, being a relatively soft and elastic metal, adds a subtle glow to the sound, making it even more natural and immersive.

The solid aluminum chassis, finished with high-gloss black anodization, creates an elegant contrast with the gold-colored gunmetal platter. The precision CNC-machined compact design allows for maximum flexibility in setup, accommodating up to four tonearms of varying lengths, from 9” to 12”.

Unlike conventional turntables, the Air Force III Premium’s platter floats on an air cushion, eliminating any physical contact with the central spindle. This prevents vibration transfer from the base to the vinyl and completely eliminates mechanical friction, ensuring zero wear and long-term performance stability. With no weight burdening the bearing, the platter rotates in absolute silence, requiring no maintenance over time.

To ensure optimal playback even with warped or slightly deformed records, TechDAS has developed a vacuum hold-down system that secures the vinyl firmly onto the platter. This greatly improves the cartridge’s tracking ability and minimizes stress on both the tonearm and cartridge. Unlike other high-pressure vacuum systems, this technology applies a gentle yet effective hold, eliminating any risk of record damage.

The Air Force III Premium is powered by two 150W DC amplifiers driving its synchronous motor, ensuring a stable and powerful drive system. Once the desired speed is reached, the motor’s torque is automatically reduced by more than 50%, eliminating any potential impact on sound quality. While it does not use a traditional servo control, a sensor continuously monitors and adjusts speed in real-time for absolute rotational accuracy. The motor unit is housed in a separate chassis, featuring the same high-gloss black anodized finish as the main unit.
