With its sleek design and compact size, the MB25 is a standalone unit that does not require third-party apps to operate, ensuring a simple and immediate user experience. Thanks to Class 1 Bluetooth technology, it offers excellent connectivity even with audio devices that lack Bluetooth. Its transmission range extends up to 45.7 meters (150 feet), and the external antenna ensures optimal performance in both transmission and reception modes.

As the successor to the renowned MB20, the MB25 retains all the features of its predecessor while introducing significant improvements for an even more refined user experience. Among the key upgrades is an illuminated glass front panel that displays audio signal rates and connection types. Additionally, it allows users to select the desired input in transmitter mode, offering greater control over the audio. Power Control has also been added, enabling the device to turn on and off in sync with the rest of the audio system.

The MB25’s versatility is reflected in its wide range of inputs and outputs, allowing for various configurations. For analog connectivity, it features both balanced and unbalanced stereo inputs and outputs. For digital connections, it includes coaxial and optical inputs and outputs, making it ideal for use with an external digital-to-analog converter (DAC) (note: the MB25 cannot be used as a standalone DAC).

Thanks to Bluetooth 5.0 technology, it supports high-fidelity audio codecs such as AAC and Qualcomm® aptX™ HD, ensuring uncompromised sound reproduction. It is also equipped with a high-quality 32-bit DAC in receiver mode and a premium ADC in transmitter mode, preserving maximum audio quality and signal integrity.

As a transceiver, the MB25 can function as either a Bluetooth Receiver or a Bluetooth Transmitter (but not simultaneously). Simply set the dedicated switch on the rear panel to select the desired mode. In Receiver mode, the device receives audio signals from compatible Bluetooth devices and plays them through the audio system using the available connections. In Transmitter mode, the MB25 can send audio from physical sources such as CDs or vinyl records to Bluetooth headphones or speakers.

For those looking to integrate multiple audio systems within the home, the MB25 offers a practical solution for wirelessly distributing audio between multiple setups: simply connect an MB25 unit to each system. Additionally, users who already own an MB20 can pair it with the MB25 to create a multi-room, multi-system configuration.

The MB25’s design reflects McIntosh’s unmistakable elegance: it is housed in a refined custom aluminum chassis, with an illuminated black glass front panel featuring the McIntosh logo. Compatible with both McIntosh and non-McIntosh systems, it includes a wall power adapter with international plug options.
