The device integrates a 1TB HDD that is "state-of-the-art" in terms of reliability, responsiveness, and quiet operation, where the operating system, audio player, and content storage are housed. Connectivity includes four USB ports (2x2.0, 2x3.0) and one eSATA port for external storage devices. Web streaming of internet radios and services like Pandora, SiriusXM, Spotify, Rhapsody, and TuneIn, with a list that can be updated in the future, is accessible through a high-speed LAN port. The analog audio output is available with RCA and balanced XLR connections, while digital outputs are in optical Toslink and coaxial electrical formats. There are also two video outputs, DVI and HDMI, for the GUI function and a USB output dedicated to McIntosh components with the same connection. Content can be saved to Amazon Cloud Drive and Apple iCloud, and the MB100 can be configured so that new tracks selected from these services are automatically added to the library.

The MB100 can also synchronize content stored on networked computers for immediate access. The connection to a screen also allows you to listen to playlists accompanied by a slideshow of your photos. The MB100's DAC is an eight-channel, 32-bit/192 kHz in Quad Balanced stereo configuration, the same used in the D100 digital preamplifier, isolated from the motherboard. The device can be controlled in various ways: via remote control with an OSD displayed on the TV, from Android and iOS devices, or even from a web browser, and is compatible with various home automation systems, allowing for easy integration into the existing setup.
