McIntosh Digital-to-Analog Converter and Digital Preamplifier
The D1100 Digital Preamplifier is a reference-level stereo preamplifier and digital-to-analog converter (DAC). Its 8-channel, 32-bit DAC is configured in Quad Balanced mode, with half of the channels dedicated to the left audio signal and the other half to the right channel. This is the most advanced DAC McIntosh has ever used, offering unprecedented performance to reproduce digital music with exceptional precision and authenticity.
Included are 9 digital inputs, enough to satisfy even the most complex digital systems:
- 3 optical inputs,
- 3 coaxial inputs (2 RCA and 1 BNC),
- 1 MCT input,
- 1 AES/EBU input,
- 1 USB input.
The USB input supports signals up to 32-bit/384kHz and playback of DSD64, DSD128, DSD256, as well as DXD 352.8kHz and DXD 384kHz. All other inputs support signals up to 24-bit/192kHz. The MCT input, exclusive to McIntosh, allows you to enjoy high-resolution SACD audio via the MCT500 SACD/CD Transport.
There are three sets of balanced and unbalanced stereo outputs, which connect the D1100 to your system. One of the outputs has a fixed volume, while the other two have variable volume; these can also be switched on and off for greater customization.
All inputs can be renamed for convenience. There are 4 data ports and 4 power control triggers, fully programmable. In addition, the D1100 offers external control options via IR and RS232. For personal listening, Headphone Crossfeed Director (HXD®) technology adds depth and spatiality to your music.
The D1100 is a fully functional standalone unit, but it can also be used in combination with the C1100 Vacuum Tube Preamplifier. By connecting the two devices with the included cable, you create the ultimate analog-digital stereo preamplifier system. In this configuration, the C1100 takes over all functions of the D1100, offering a unified and easy-to-use interface.
Like the C1100, the D1100 uses a fully balanced dual-mono architecture, with electrically isolated left and right audio channels and power supplies, ensuring absolute stereo separation and sonic purity.
The D1100 is Roon Tested certified by Roon Labs. This ensures that the device is automatically recognized and configured to deliver the best possible audio performance.
Its mirror-polished stainless steel and brushed titanium chassis perfectly match the C1100, creating a cohesive aesthetic. The classic black glass front panel, blue vu-meters, knobs, illuminated logo, and brushed aluminum end caps complete McIntosh’s timeless design.
