DYNAVECTOR DV-XX-2A

The Dynavector DV-XX-2A, a moving coil (MC) phono cartridge, represents the perfect balance between a high-performance vibration system and an optimized magnetic circuit—two essential elements for precise, dynamic, and natural sound reproduction.

At the core of the DV-XX-2A is a next-generation magnetic circuit, built using pure iron for its exceptional magnetic permeability and stability. However, during mechanical processing, the crystalline structure of the metal can suffer distortions, compromising its magnetic properties. To address this, Dynavector has developed a sophisticated magnetic annealing process, meticulously studied based on the material, shape, and size of each component. This thermal treatment allows the crystalline structure of the iron to regenerate, restoring magnetic permeability and ensuring a stable magnetic flux, which is crucial for distortion-free signal generation.

Another key element of the DV-XX-2A is the use of Alnico magnets, chosen for their low magnetic resistance and ability to maintain consistent magnetic force during playback. Unlike neodymium or samarium-cobalt magnets, Alnico offers a high signal-to-noise ratio and extremely precise transient response. Additionally, the proprietary Flux Damping technology further stabilizes the magnetic flux in the air gap, contributing to consistent and faithful performance.

The structure of the cartridge is built with stainless steel screws that securely attach the front and rear yokes to the magnets, providing the magnetic circuit with high rigidity. Each unit is manually assembled, with careful control of the tightening torque, a critical parameter to ensure maximum sound consistency from one unit to another.

From a mechanical standpoint, the DV-XX-2A features a 6mm solid boron cantilever, which is incredibly rigid and lightweight, working in synergy with a PathFinder (PF) line contact stylus. This combination ensures accurate tracking of the groove and exceptional musical detail retrieval.

With an output voltage of 0.28mV, the cartridge is perfectly in line with low-output MC standards, making it compatible with a wide range of amplifiers and transformers, including the Dynavector SUP-200. Its 10mm/N compliance and light weight of 8.9g make it ideal for light or medium-mass tonearms, especially when paired with lightweight headshells to optimize dynamic performance.
