LUXMAN E-250

The Luxman E-250 represents the latest evolution in the brand’s phono amplifiers, inheriting the best design elements from its predecessor, the E-200, which has been a reference model among compact phono equalizer amplifiers since its launch in 2008. One of the most significant innovations introduced in the E-250 is the ability to adjust load impedance and load capacity according to the cartridge’s characteristics, ensuring a refined listening experience that preserves the original detail of analog reproduction. This fine adjustment allows each performance to be optimized, faithfully conveying the expression engraved in the grooves and revealing previously unheard musical nuances.

The rear panel features a load impedance selector (34kΩ, 47kΩ, 56kΩ, 100kΩ) and a load capacity selector (0pF, 100pF, 220pF, 320pF), enabling optimal response based on the specific cartridge being used and allowing it to reach its full potential. Additionally, the E-250 integrates a step-up transformer with a two-stage gain selection function, employing an independent super-permalloy core for the left and right channels, ensuring excellent support even for low-impedance MC cartridges. This design approach results in a rich and vibrant musicality, enhancing the advantages of transformer-based preamplification.

The E-250’s power supply circuit has been enhanced with a newly developed low-profile, large-capacity block capacitor, combined with a regulator in discrete configuration, ensuring a stable and high-quality power supply. The inclusion of Luxman’s proprietary round-pattern circuit board ensures the smooth transmission of the most delicate audio signals.

Another distinctive feature is the demagnetization system, designed to restore the original characteristics of the cartridge and MC transformer. When accumulated magnetism negatively affects sound quality, the E-250 uses the music signal current to eliminate magnetization, maintaining optimal sonic performance at all times.

The NF-type equalizer employs custom-built components developed by Luxman, boasting a high signal-to-noise ratio thanks to parallel FET adoption in the input stage, effectively reducing background noise. Additionally, a mono switch is available for playing monophonic records, along with a low-cut filter that removes unwanted low-frequency signals generated by warped or worn-out records.

The front panel offers intuitive operation, allowing direct input selection with a simple touch, enabling the user to switch between two turntables or a turntable with a twin arm. The ability to easily change the cartridge type based on the input allows for the selection of the most suitable cartridge for each record.

Aesthetically, the E-250 features a blaster white finish and a compact panel with lever-type switches, emphasizing a sophisticated and mechanically refined design.
