The A34.2 stereo amplifier is a 2 x 150 watt model that uses Primare's proprietary UFPD (Ultra Fast Power Device) technology. Designed to deliver high power and extremely low distortion, the A34.2 pairs perfectly with Primare's PRE32 preamplifier but is also compatible with other preamps and multi-channel audio processors. Thanks to UFPD technology, the amplifier offers a fast and natural response, with clean, agile, and fast sound across a much wider frequency range, maintaining exceptional headroom.

The A34.2 can easily be switched to bridged mode, providing a fully balanced mono channel capable of delivering up to 550W at 8 ohms. The balanced signal transmission helps keep the signal as free as possible from interference, as it uses two identical signal lines with opposite phase. Common noise in both lines is rejected by the differential receiver, leaving only the pure, original signal.

Switching between stereo or bridged modes and between unbalanced (RCA) or balanced (XLR) inputs is handled by high-performance signal relays. The amplifier also includes a preamp stage consisting of Burr-Brown OPA2134 and Analogue Devices AD8512 operational amplifiers that automatically maintain a constant gain of 30dB (unbalanced) and 24dB (balanced), stabilizing the input impedance at 15kohm in both stereo and bridged configurations.

In terms of performance, the A34.2 amplifier uses switch-mode power supply technology, which has gained popularity due to its lower energy consumption and ability to fit more amplifier channels into smaller spaces. Primare's Class D technology has been optimized through the innovative UFPD, which uses a constant 26dB feedback gain across the entire audio range, maintaining stable performance well beyond the audio band. The use of a stable demodulation filter and immediate feedback control ensures superior sound quality, reducing distortion and THD across all frequencies.

Primare has optimized the performance of the UFPD technology through careful selection of circuit components, verifying the design through extensive measurements and listening tests. Regarding power, Primare's switch-mode power supply technology uses an isolated PFC (Power Factor Control) that manages the mains current so it is converted into a pure sine wave with the same frequency and phase as the mains voltage. This means that drawing 1000W from the mains will not affect other devices connected to the power supply, leaving the impact of the power supply virtually invisible to the electrical grid.

The isolated converter operates in ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) mode, minimizing the harmonics generated and ensuring a clean environment for optimal amplifier operation. With precise feedback control and optimized current management, the A34.2 delivers a pure, powerful, and distortion-free audio experience.
