Four switching power amplifiers arranged in a bridge configuration (two per channel) to ensure maximum control and drive.
Completely balanced configuration, from the input to the speakers, for a "ground-free" signal management, without a ground.
Exceptional power: 200 W per channel at 8 ohms and 400 W per channel at 4 ohms.
Ability to easily drive a wide range of loudspeakers.
Wide dynamic range, thanks to the instantaneous high-current power supply.
Fully balanced design, both for the preamplifier and power amplifiers.
Use of Marantz Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules (HDAM) in the preamplifier.
Power amplifier designed in a dual mono configuration.
Separate power supplies for the preamplifier, control processor, and each power amplifier channel.
Discrete component phono stage, compatible with moving coil and moving magnet cartridges, housed in a shielded enclosure.
High-quality construction with a double-layer chassis, 5mm thick aluminum top panel, aluminum front panel, copper-plated chassis, and high-purity copper speaker terminals.
Double-thickness copper PCB for the output stage and power supplies.
The amplifiers are the heart of Marantz’s tradition: the company’s first product was a high-quality preamplifier designed to extract the most from the new LP record technology. From that first innovative product, the Audio Consolette, developed by Saul B. Marantz in 1952, the company has evolved its design to the current PM-10, an integrated amplifier that sets new reference standards for all current music formats. This powerful integrated amplifier is built like a high-end separate preamplifier and a pair of monoblock power amplifiers, all housed in a single refined cabinet designed to maximize both performance and visual impact.
Optimized Design
To achieve unparalleled audio quality while offering top-tier power in its class, each section of the amplifier has been optimized for its specific task. Unlike traditional amplifiers that use a single transformer, the PM-10 adopts a dual-mono configuration with separate power circuits for the preamplifier and each power amplifier channel. A dedicated transformer for the preamplifier ensures that delicate signals are not influenced by the high-power output circuits' needs, while a separate supply handles the microprocessor that controls volume adjustment and input selection, preventing interference.
Pure Analog Circuitry
Another key element in reducing noise is the use of entirely analog circuitry: many competing amplifiers today integrate a DAC or use digital amplification, but the PM-10 from Marantz is designed exclusively in analog to ensure the purest signal. The design aims to keep the signal as clean as possible, and when the "Purest Mode" is activated, all unnecessary circuits are deactivated, ensuring an optimal signal path. There is also a direct Power Amp Direct input, which sends the signal directly to the power stage, allowing the PM-10 to operate as a pure power amplifier.
Completely Balanced, from Input to Final Power Stage
The balanced configuration offers numerous advantages, such as reducing external interference and increasing signal strength, making the PM-10 particularly suitable for use in recording studios and environments where noise is an issue. The balanced design also allows for more precise control over the signal, reducing errors and enhancing the overall quality of reproduction.
Power Amplification with Bridge Configuration
Marantz has chosen to use the bridge configuration to achieve power and dynamics capable of driving even the most demanding speakers. Using two separate stages for each channel, this bridge configuration allows for precise control over the speaker driver units, improving the system's definition and speed. This approach ensures more controlled musical reproduction, both rhythmically and spatially, maintaining a clean sound even at high volumes.
Carefully Selected Components
Marantz has always aimed to use the finest components for its Premium Series products. Not satisfied with the quality offered by integrated chips, the company developed its own HDAM module, a miniature amplifier built with discrete components. The PM-10 uses the HDAM SA3, designed with current feedback for optimal frequency response and dynamic range, supported by ultra-fast capacitors to meet high-current demands.
Performance-Oriented Construction
Like the Super Audio CD/CD SA-10 player in the same series, the PM-10 is built to the highest possible standards, with a double-layer copper-coated chassis for excellent rejection of interference and a non-magnetic aluminum cabinet. Both products feature die-cast aluminum feet, ensuring stability and construction quality.
