The LX-380 marks a new era in the integrated tube amplifiers of the LUXMAN “38” golden series, offering superior performance with a deep resonance that adapts to a wide range of musical genres and sound sources from different eras. This amplifier combines LECUA technology, a computerized attenuator that accurately replicates the dynamics of each performance, with a power amplification circuit that expresses the rich musicality of the 6L6GC output tube. Its exterior design, featuring a natural wood veneer case reminiscent of the series 28, merges advanced technology with traditional know-how, appealing to a new generation of audio enthusiasts.
The heart of the LX-380 is the 6L6GC beam power tube, known for its high quality, stability, and soft, delicate tonal quality. With a rated output of 20W+20W, sufficient for a home audio system, the amplifier uses a combination of a powerful and flexible Mullard-type driver stage and a push-pull final stage. The adoption of a fixed bias type ensures a constant grid voltage. The sound drive force produced by a tube amplifier is not easily quantifiable, but in the design of the LX-380, a dense, mellow tonal quality has been achieved without needing high-power specifications, thanks to the integration of margins in the vacuum tubes and peripheral components. This combination of experience and original design knowledge ensures a long product lifespan, offering enduring enjoyment and long-term peace of mind.
The classic knob layout and wooden case complement the amplifier’s elegant aesthetic. With a natural veneer finish and a full-sized case (440mm), the design recalls the classic layout, featuring a combination of machined aluminum and resin knobs and lever switches. The LX-380 is the first tube amplifier to integrate LECUA, LUXMAN’s proprietary electronically controlled attenuator, which allows for smooth and precise sound adjustment using an 88-step method. Furthermore, the amplifier adopts the same high-quality semiconductor circuit successfully used in integrated amplifiers such as the L-590AX.
The LX-380 also offers expandability options. It features an electronically controlled tone control function (bass/treble) that allows for fine adjustments to tonal quality based on the audio source and listening environment, with three selectable turnover frequency positions. The loudness mode synchronizes with the volume control to adjust the bass and treble ranges according to human hearing characteristics.
For vinyl enthusiasts, the LX-380 is equipped with a high-quality semiconductor-based phono amplification circuit, compatible with MM/MC types. This circuit stems from the concept of LUXMAN integrated amplifiers and enables the enjoyment of analog record playback without the need for an additional dedicated phono amplifier. A subsonic switch is included to suppress woofer fluctuations caused by low-frequency signals from warped records, while a monaural switch allows the activation of the left or right channel during monaural record playback, ensuring a complete listening experience.
The amplifier’s structure also allows for the separation of the pre-amplifier and main amplifier circuits via a switch, enabling the addition of a power amplifier for a bi-amplified setup or for enhancing a surround sound environment using an AV amplifier. This design allows for future system expansions and also includes a headphone output for private sound enjoyment. The rear of the LX-380 is equipped with 18mm gold-plated RCA terminals compatible with high-grade line cables with large connectors, as well as speaker terminals in an inline configuration with Y-lug compatibility for extra thick speaker cables.
The LX-380 is built for longevity, with sufficient margin to support the operating voltage and heat dissipation from the vacuum tubes, ensuring reliability and long-term durability.
