The Strandberg C50 is a classic designed floor-standing speaker featuring the latest driver technology.
To achieve this, a larger, low-mass mid-woofer is used instead of many smaller drivers. This way, a more physical sensation of low frequencies is achieved, not just a deep tone.
Light-coned drivers are also easy to drive with a low-power amplifier. The larger cabinet size allows the low-mass mid-woofer to breathe naturally with less compression. As a result, the bass is deeper, clearer, and more natural without compression.

Cabinet
The cabinet is tuned to achieve a natural roll-off without any ringing in the impulse response. The cabinets are made of MDF with internal damping pads to minimize the material resonance. Additionally, it is reinforced to ensure rigidity, and the damping pads make it non-resonant, preventing the cabinet from storing sound in the time domain. Natural wool is used for internal acoustic damping, loosely packed to avoid storing sound in the damping material.

Crossover
The 2-way crossover is wired with high-quality Mundorf capacitors and baked air coils to avoid any resonance from internal components and the filter. The secret to the crossover design is making the drivers work together without pushing any unit beyond its comfort zone. Therefore, the cone area must be considered along with the material behavior of the drivers. The result is a seamless transition between the mid-woofer and tweeter across the crossover point and throughout the entire frequency range.

Drivers
The 8” mid-woofer and tweeter drivers have been specifically selected and custom-developed by renowned driver manufacturers, offering the most advanced driver technology of the 21st century.
The 8” mid-woofer driver, with a titanium voice coil former and built-in copper rings in the magnetic system, provides a symmetrical drive and suppresses intermodulation distortion. Low losses and a large window in the chassis reduce air reflection noise, resulting in industry-leading voice handling and extraordinary micro/macro dynamics across the entire frequency range. Similarly, the 30mm waveguide tweeter provides excellent vocal presence and precise imaging at listening positions. The 30mm tweeter is a perfect match for the 8” mid-woofer, as the larger cone area blends naturally with the mid-woofer, making the two drivers behave as one music source for the listener. The tweeter’s large surround, built-in copper ring, and textile dome diaphragm deliver a flat frequency response above 30 kHz. A large rear acoustic chamber reduces compression and shifts the tweeter system's resonance well below the crossover point.
