Qln One: Hi-End Speaker for Small Rooms

The Qln One introduced the signature truncated pyramid design of Qln, debuting in 1981 at CES as the world's first speaker of its kind. The shape is an original Qln design that combines aesthetic expression and functionality. Since its launch in 1989, the Qln One has been the "younger sibling" of the Signature model.

A slanted front baffle ensures perfect time alignment between the woofer and tweeter. The truncated pyramid cabinet with a reduced baffle area suppresses any standing waves inside the cabinet and enhances three-dimensional imaging. Designed with Qln's unique Qboard® technology, the cabinet construction significantly reduces structural resonances. The low-frequency bass reflex with its trumpet-shaped port eliminates air turbulence. The cabinet is reinforced for rigidity and employs Qboard® to minimize internal resonances that could distort sound in the time domain. Natural wool is used internally for further damping of the acoustic chamber.

The 5.5” mid-bass woofer features a custom-designed sandwich paper cone that delivers cutting-edge next-generation driver technology.
The treated sandwich paper cone, coated with a special lacquer, incorporates an underhung magnet system (keeping the voice coil always within the magnetic gap) to create a fully linear motor system. This design allows for free airflow without compression or turbulence, ensuring precise micro-detail reproduction and eliminating acoustic noise commonly found in many basket designs. A copper ring integrated into the magnetic system provides symmetrical drive and low voice coil inductance, delivering enhanced midrange dynamics while suppressing intermodulation distortion. These technical innovations result in outstanding micro and macro dynamics from a 2-way speaker design.

The advanced 25 mm tweeter with a wide surround offers exceptional vocal reproduction and excellent sound imaging from all listening positions. Its large surround and textile dome diaphragm provide a flat frequency response beyond 30 kHz, with excellent off-axis dispersion. The unique AirCirc magnet system and rear chamber eliminate reflections and resonances.

The Qln One’s crossover is composed of very few components arranged in a specialized configuration. The primary crossover has only two components with minimal adjustments. This design allows the Qln One to deliver a lively and expansive sound from a compact enclosure.
The crossover is rigidly wired with as few contact points as possible between components. Each component is adhered with soft glue to increase damping and minimize vibrations.

The internal cabling is custom-designed and produced in Sweden. Pure copper cores are wrapped around a polypropylene inner layer with polypropylene insulation, coated with an acoustically damped shielding to minimize acoustic feedback. All components are meticulously hand-selected and individually tested for deviations.
The speaker terminals feature WBT Nextgen® connectors, crafted from the highest quality silver-plated copper with minimal copper mass to reduce energy buildup, lower distortion, and ensure the purest connection with the speaker cable.
For internal acoustic damping, we use natural wool, the best material for this purpose, with a small amount of synthetic fiber added to achieve the ideal density.
